Notes:

• Rev. McDowell (T. R.) was my great-grandfather.
• He inserted the word 'Partial' before 'Record of the Congregation' in the book's frontpiece. He was also ministering to three small chapels in the Parkesburg area but whether he meant that he did not include those congregants in this book or that he had not finished adding everyone to the book I don't know for certain.
• The Pastor's Record includes sections for the pastor to record much information about the parishioner and the minister's visits but most of these additional sections are blank.
• The book is copyrighted 1894 - in my opinion, it appears that Rev. McDowell started adding congregants to the book but never actually used it for its intended purpose. The book is missing its cover but whether that damage occurred in 1895 or more recently, I cannot say.
• The data heading 'Came' is written fully in the book as 'Came to Congregation'
• The data heading 'Communion' is fully written in the book as 'Received in to Full Communion'
• Families are grouped one per page and I have used the groupings as named in the book (
