S. - Carrying on a practice of dentistry in West Grove, Dr. Charles E. Heald is one of the community's leading professional workers and public-spirited citizens. "Dr. Heald was born December 20, 1873, in Kennett Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, son of Joseph and S. Emma (Wickersham) Heald. His father, who was born July 8, 1843 in Kennett Township, died in 1931 after a career de- voted to farming operations. The mother, born September 10, 1847, in Marl- borough, Pennsylvania, died in 1921. "Township schools provided Charles E. Heald's early education, and afterward he attended Martin Academy, at Kennett Square. He then became a student at the University of Pennsylvania, where in 1902, he was graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He took up his practice of dentistry at once thereafter in West Grove, here continuing down to the time of writing and performing a service of great value and distinction. He is active also in the Dental Society of Chester and Delaware counties, of which he was formerly secretary. "Entirely outside his profession, Dr. Heald has been active in West Grove and Chester County affairs. A Republican in his political alignment, he has been a member of the county committee of his party since 1921. For a twenty-one year period he was burgess of West Grove, so serving from 1918 to 1939. He was elected, in November, 1939, to the post of register of wills of Chester County for a four-year term, and is still so serving at the time of writing. Active in the Free and Accepted Masons, Dr. Heald has been treasurer of New London Lodge, No. 545, since 1904, and is also affiliated with Royal Arch Chapter, Knights Templar Commandery and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He is treasurer of the West Grove Building and Loan Association. In his religious faith Dr. Heald is a member of the Society of Friends. "Dr. Charles E. Heald married, September 28, 1904, Cora R. Marshall, of Kennett, Pennsylvania, daughter of Charles and Mary D. (Sharpless) Marshall. They became the parents of two children: 1. Howard M. Heald, who married Helen Moore, of Chatham, Pennsylvania; they have two children, Louise and Dorothy Heald. 2. Anna E. Heald, an accountant in West Grove."
